Dual Injection in Supersonic Crossflow: Analysis Jet Shear Layer from Schlieren Images

چکیده
In supersonic-combustion ramjets (scramjets), fuel is injected, which should mix rapidly with the supersonic crossflow to minimize length of scramjet. Tandem dual-jet injection has shown improved mixing performance over single-jet injection. However, experiments on tandem have not addressed jet shear layer, in occurs, yet. The present study investigates as well bow shocks front jets, a continuous air-indraft wind tunnel at Mach number 1.55. A schlieren setup been used for visualizing flow features. largely automated algorithm processing images developed determine location upper boundary layer. penetration studied function 1) , ratio momentum and that crossflow, 2) dimensionless distance between dual-jets. An empirical similarity relation established time-averaged layer covering investigated conditions (, ). This provides spacing maximal jets .

Comparisons of CFD Calculations and Measurements for a Sonic Methane Plasma Jet in a Supersonic Crossflow
Extensive testing with a plasma torch operating on methane in a supersonic crossflow sparked an interest in modeling the torch using CFD to determine if methane plasma jets can be accurately modeled, and if so, to ascertain the usefulness of such results. The comparison presented here is of a methane plasma jet produced by a normally oriented plasma torch in a Mach 2.4 crossflow and the corresp...
متن کاملIgnition Analysis in Supersonic Turbulent Mixing Layer
Numerical study of two dimensional supersonic hydrogen-air mixing layer is performed to investigate the effect of turbulence and chemical additive on ignition distance. Chemical reaction is treated using detail kinetics. Advection upstream splitting method is used to calculate the fluxes and one equation turbulence model is chosen here to simulate the considered problem. Hydrogen peroxide is us...

متن کاملEffect of Jet Injection Angle and Number of Jets on Mixing and Emissions From a Reacting Crossflow at Atmospheric Pressure
The mixing of air jets into hot, fuel-rich products of a gas turbine primary zone is an important step in staged combustion. Often referred to as “quick quench,” the mixing occurs with chemical conversion and substantial heat release. An experiment has been designed to simulate and study this process, and the effect of varying the entry angle (0°, 22.5°, and 45° from normal) and number of the a...
متن کاملAnisotropic Elasticity & Viscosity Deduced from Supersonic Shear Imaging in Muscle
INTRODUCTION Although the role of viscoelasticity in muscle mechanics is well recognized, methods for measurement in situ are limited. Recent advances in elastography have made possible the imaging of viscoelastic moduli within individual muscles [1, 2]. We have investigated a new approach, supersonic shear imaging (SSI), which combines high frame-rate (5kHz) ultrasound with acoustic radiation ...
